Friday 9 September 2011 was not only the start of the Rugby World Cup, but also the Northland Primary School Cross Country Race Championships. 6 of the best long-distance runners from Room 2 had the privilege of taking part.
The race is named 'Cross-Country' for a reason - it was a 2.8km race over field and dale (hills) and through native forest (bush). Hundreds of children from all over the far north of New Zealand took part. Here are some photos:
On Wednesday, our school was doing Cross Country. At morning tea at school, the bell rang and we had to get our bags and go over to the court. When we got there we saw Mrs.Lloyd and Mr. Elsmore who was holding a big red megaphone. When everybody was there Mr.Elsmore started calling out who was in who's car.I went with Tom into Mrs.Mitchell's car. When we got to Barge Park,we had to wait on a little field until everybody came. When everybody was there,we put our bags down near a tent.
